With this project, we aim to give more families in Malawi the opportunity to meet the daily intake of milk and meat recommended by the\u00a0recommended by the WHO<\/a>\u00a0and to ensure that farmers\u2019 products are used fairly and efficiently for consumption. In Malawi, Africa, livestock is of great importance as a source of food and income. Livestock such as goats, chickens, pigs, and cattle has enormous potential to reduce hunger, combat poverty, and enable communities to become self-sufficient.\u00a0<\/p>

Through activities such as training, improved access to markets, and animal healthcare, we support farmers in Malawi to produce enough food for themselves and for the market. This enables them to build a better future for themselves, their families, and the communities around them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The role of women<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In this context, the role of women is crucial, as they are often (75% of farmers are women) responsible for the daily care and management of livestock. In doing so, they make an important contribution to household income through the sale of dairy products and meat. Due to unstructured markets, livestock and animal products are often sold at very low prices. Although women are usually involved in managing livestock, decisions about how income from the sale of livestock and animal products is spent are typically made by men. As a result, women (and sometimes the entire household) hardly benefit from their hard work. Strengthening the role of women in small-scale livestock farming is therefore essential to increase food security, improve women\u2019s economic position, and make communities more resilient. By involving and supporting women in livestock activities, we can not only improve productivity and profitability in the sector, but also contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
