Our goal

Animal health is important not only for the animals themselves, but also for humans in the context of public health. The term ‘One Health’ is a key concept in this regard: healthy animals, healthy people and a healthy planet.

To achieve these goals, we have developed a lesson that focuses on the circumstances faced by a vet in Malawi. This is a country in Africa where Vets Without Borders – Netherlands is active.

In the lesson, we will discuss issues such as: What is different for a vet in Africa compared to a vet in the Netherlands? Why is a vet also important when we talk about human health?

By addressing these issues in a fun and interactive way, we hope to broaden their horizons.

About the lessons

The lesson consists of both theoretical and practical elements, including an organ puzzle, applying a bandage and listening with a stethoscope. By alternating between theory and practice, we ensure that it remains fun and interesting for the pupils!

This lesson is currently aimed at primary school pupils, but we are currently working on expanding it to include higher education. The duration of the lesson can be adjusted, but on average it will take between 1 and 2 hours. The lesson is delivered on a voluntary basis, but we ask for a contribution of 45 euros per lesson, excluding travel costs. We use this contribution to fund the materials for the lesson and other initiatives run by our foundation. If the cost is an issue, please do get in touch with us and we will discuss the options.

We are also always open to other requests for lessons on topics related to Vets Without Borders!

If you have any questions or would like further information, please email educatiedzg@gmail.com

We listen carefully to what the children have to say and respond effectively to their needs.
